Ph.D. in Computer Science

Doctorates (Ph.D. programs) are multi-year post-degree university courses that aim at providing graduate students an advanced training toward research activities. Starting from the XXIX cycle the University of Milan-Bicocca established the United PhD School.

The main objective of the PhD program is to prepare highly-qualified researchers to conduct research, work and teach in fundamental and applied topics of the discipline, to design and develop complex IT systems, innovative applications with information and communication technology in different application domains

About 15 students per year are admitted to the PhD program, with scholarships from the University, private companies or research projects either national or international

The Doctorate program in Computer Science is hosted by the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication and the research areas of the program are:

  • Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Life Sciences and Bioinformatics
  • Software Engineering and Architecture
  • Web and Information Systems
  • Intelligent sensing (Robotics, Real-Time Systems and Computer Vision)
  • Artificial Intelligence and Decision Systems
