Ph.D. in Computer Science
Doctorates (Ph.D. programs) are multi-year post-degree university courses that aim at providing graduate students an advanced training toward research activities. Starting from the XXIX cycle the University of Milan-Bicocca established the United PhD School.
The main objective of the PhD program is to prepare highly-qualified researchers who are able to compete on the international stage. The PhD program provides scientific expertise, methods, base and advanced knowledge, techniques, and planning skills for developing computational models, integrated architectures, methods and models to represent and manage information and knowledge in several scientific skills and their processes.in different application domains.
During the PhD program, the student will work on research problems together with university professors and experts of the field, also in collaboration with companies. The student will attend courses and present their results to their peers and to exper researchers. Each student will spend at least 6 months at a research institution or a company abroad.
About 15 students per year are admitted to the PhD program, with scholarships from the University, private companies or research projects either national or international
The Doctorate program in Computer Science is hosted by the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication and the research areas of the program are:
- Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Life Sciences and Bioinformatics
- Software Engineering and Architecture
- Web and Information Systems
- Intelligent sensing (Robotics, Real-Time Systems and Computer Vision)
- Artificial Intelligence and Decision Systems
